It’s Going to Be OK, Inc. (IGTBOK), founded to provide awareness, help, hope and healing to those affected by human trafficking, and sexual exploitation, is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Hope and Pearls Red Carpet Gala.

The glamorous ceremony caps January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month which

IGTBOK founder, Tonya Stafford, lobbied to have recognized by the State of Texas. The 2nd Annual Hope and Pearls Gala will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2018, 7:00pm at the Omni Hotel Park West, 1590 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75234. Radio personality and community activist LeTitia Owens and Major league baseball wife Anita Hawkins serve as hosts for the evening.

Each year a human trafficking advocate is recognized at the gala for their service in this area of advocacy with the Shaniya Davis Human Rights Award. Shaniya Davis was a 5 year old girl from Fayetteville, North Carolina that was sold by her mother to pay off a $200 drug debt. She was found six days later murdered by her captor.

Approximately 300,000 children are at risk of being trafficked for sex in the United

States annually. With the high level of runaway and homeless youth, Dallas, Houston and Austin are a major hotspot for domestic human trafficking. Specifically, Dallas alone has approximately 6,000 runaways annually and per the National Incidence Studies an estimated one out of every three children that run away is lured into sex trafficking within 48 hours of leaving home.

As a $150 billion dollar industry, it is imperative that we expand awareness and education on the issue. Human Trafficking affects not only children but also women and all vulnerable adults.
